Senior Director, Early Childhood Operations

The Early Childhood Education branch has recently acquired responsibility to oversee ACT public preschools as approved services ensuring they provide compliant, quality preschool programs under the NQF. To be successful in this newly established role, you will need to be adept at building relationships and engaging productively with stakeholders including principals and members of school leadership teams, executives, and those in the broader early childhood education and care sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in delivering strategic reform for the delivery of ACT public preschools that will benefit children in our community.
- Specific (desired) requirements: The following are desired requirements for the role:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications would be an advantage (Early Childhood (EC) qualifications are highly desirable, including EC degrees focussing on the zero to five years);
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the NQF and familiarity with early childhood education and care settings;
- Demonstrated skills and expertise in contemporary early childhood practice and demonstrated achievements in this field;
- Coaching experience and/or facilitation skills or experience would be an advantage.
Notes: This position will be designed for flexible work arrangements and activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers may not have a designated workstation/desk and work across multiple Education sites. We work in a mixed-mode of at home and at the ACT Whole-Of-Government building at 220 London Circuit. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across sites. This position is based in the Directorate’s Education Support Office (ESO) with office-based conditions.
