The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about communications, brand storytelling, and making a tangible impact in a city-shaping environment? Urbis is offering a unique opportunity to lead and shape a specialist communications function as our Senior Communications Manager. This newly created role is your chance to shape and bring Urbis' communications strategy to life, focusing on insights, thought leadership, and public relations to amplify our new business strategy and refreshed brand.

In this role, you will have the autonomy to build and grow a high-performing communications team. You will work closely with our Executive group and senior leaders, gaining exposure to a wide variety of stakeholders across our multi-disciplinary business. Your leadership will be pivotal in creating a unified, insights and communications approach that enhances our reputation and market eminence as a leading urban consultancy.

You will:

1. Establish and lead Urbis' specialist communications function, building and managing a high-performing team.
2. Lead the development of our content strategy and insights program to support business growth and work winning opportunities.
3. Develop and lead Urbis' in-house PR and press office function, cultivating media relationships to position Urbis as a brand of choice for housing and urban consultancy commentary.
4. Lead the development of our national and state-based government policy commentary responses, insights and national house view messaging playbooks.
5. Provide expert communications advice and coaching to leaders, ensuring they are equipped to represent Urbis effectively.
6. Write and edit engaging content for multiple channels, including press releases, op eds, websites, social media, email campaigns, and collateral.
7. Report on the performance of communication and PR campaigns, measuring ROI and driving continuous improvement in communications efforts.

About you:

1. 10+ years of experience within an extensive communications role, including prior success in a Manager-level role.
2. Proven line management experience, with a focus on team development and coaching.
3. Expertise in crafting impactful thought leadership and insights reports that drive business strategy.
4. In-depth knowledge of communications and media within professional services, with senior-level expertise.
5. Industry expertise in housing, precincts, or the public sector, along with an established network of media contacts.
6. Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership in a professional services environment.
