Overview
Principal Consultant - Intergovernmental Finance. Branch: Financial Planning and Resourcing. Division: Finance and Commercial Services. Salary: Level 7, $139,860 - $149,485 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2024). This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP.
The Intergovernmental Finance Branch leads the Department’s response to the financial implications of the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement, providing expert strategic financial advice on Commonwealth funding, grant approvals, and compliance requirements under the Australian Education Act. The Branch provides financial advice on intergovernmental funding arrangements, ensures financial controls and reporting requirements are met, and maintains relationships with other government agencies.
The Role
The Principal Consultant oversees budget maintenance, monitoring and reporting for Commonwealth-funded projects, and liaises closely with program managers. They assist the manager with annual preparation of Commonwealth financial compliance and reporting requirements, including the annual acquittal and compliance certification under the Australian Education Act and Commonwealth-State funding agreements.
If successful you will prepare reporting and ensure monitoring requirements are met for Royalties for Regions (RFR) programs, maintaining liaison with program managers and assisting budget holders to manage RFR budgets and acquittal requirements. The role also involves researching, preparing and reviewing briefing papers, correspondence, confidential reports and parliamentary/ministerial responses on behalf of the Director.
