The Role
The Satellite Communications System Program Office (SATCOM SPO) is seeking an APS 6 Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Officer to join their sustainment team. The ideal candidate would be accountable to perform and achieve complex logistics inventory management work within an integrated workforce.

They are required to have knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision-making, Defence's mission, policy requirements as well as have a sound working understand of the Defence Logistics framework and system.?

The role will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve SATCOM SPO and wider Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

The duties of an APS 6 ILS Officer – Sustainment in Defence includes, but not limited to, the following:

- Develop and contribute to strategies and plans for logistics inventory management and perform activities that support the ADF.
- Accountable to develop policies, procedures and processes for logistics inventory management.
- Compose responses to correspondence, briefs and reports on performance in logistics inventory management.
- Advise on logistics inventory management activities, policies and legislation for Defence.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve logistics inventory management matters.
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.

About our Team
SATCOM SPO is responsible for delivering the acquisition and in-service support of space and terminal satellite communications capabilities to support the ADF both here and overseas. These capabilities range from strategic and tactical satellite communication systems, to global positioning systems and communications networks.

The SPO is based at Brindabella Business Park in Canberra, Damascus Barracks in Brisbane, and comprises of over 90 personnel. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel.

The Logistics team are responsible for the management and execution of in-service logistics support and disposals (on-going), including liaising with end users and support contractors to facilitate the movement of inventory through the Logistics Information Management System.

Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidates will have experience in similar roles, with knowledge of logistics, finance, asset and contract management, be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team. They must have a good understanding of Logistics Information Management Systems and ability to interpret different systems for information.

Key attributes:

- Demonstrated experience & knowledge of logistics methodologies, systems and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience or understanding of contract management, including compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in working within a team in a complex environment.
- Excellent communication and customer engagement skills with ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve results and business objectives.

As part of this role you will be responsible for the following activities:

- Manage the procurement of equipment and services under the Support Contract.
- Managing Logistics Activities including Receipts, Issues, Procurements, Stocktaking and Disposals.
- Contribute to Engineering Change Proposals, including advising on ILS Factors and managing the execution of updates to Supply Support Elements e.g. Codification and Cataloguing.
- Contribute to Contract Performance Reviews and to the review of Contractor Deliverables.
