About the Role

As the Leading Hand in the Assembly team, you will oversee day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on with production tasks. You’ll coordinate team members, ensure builds are completed on time, and maintain the highest standards of quality and safety across all work — including advanced component installations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate a small team of tradespeople and apprentices
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor progress against production schedules
- Provide hands-on support in trailer and component assembly, including:
- Installation of power take-offs (PTOs)
- Assembly and troubleshooting of ABS/EBS and air braking systems
- Hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical fit-outs
- Ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards
- Mentor, train, and support team members
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors and other departments

About You

- Proven experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, or Senior Tradesperson in a workshop environment
- Strong background in heavy vehicle or trailer assembly and fit-out
- Experience with PTOs, braking systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Solid knowledge of workplace health and safety
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- A proactive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude

What’s on Offer

- $53p/h with penalty rates payable after 8hrs.
- Initial casual contract with the view to move to a permanent role
