About the Employer:
TAJ HOMES PTY LTD is a construction company delivering residential and commercial projects. We manage work end-to-end—planning, project management, and consulting—with a dedicated in-house finishes team. Each project is overseen by an experienced site foreman to ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery. We’re known for expert workmanship, tailored solutions, sustainable building practices, and competitive pricing.
About the Role:
TAJ HOMES PTY LTD is seeking a full-time Painter based in South Australia, offering an annual salary in the range of $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation. The role involves delivering high-quality painting and finishing work across residential and commercial projects, with a focus on precision, attention to detail, and meeting project timelines. Ideal for a reliable and skilled tradesperson who values craftsmanship and is ready to contribute to a professional team known for consistent, high-standard results.
Responsibilities:
Surface Preparation & Setup
• Assess and prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching holes, and removing old paint or wallpaper.
• Fill cracks and imperfections using plaster or other appropriate materials to create a smooth, paint-ready surface.
• Build and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and protective structures to access all areas safely.
• Protect furniture, flooring, and fixtures using drop cloths, masking tape, and plastic sheeting to prevent damage or mess.
Paint Application & Finishing
• Mix, match, and apply paints, stains, sealers, or varnishes using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
• Apply decorative and textured finishes where required, including specialty coatings and faux finishes.
• Deliver clean, consistent, and professional paintwork across walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
• Perform detailed edging and precision work to ensure sharp lines and high-quality finishes.
Project Planning & Coordination
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine required tasks, materials, and techniques.
• Estimate timeframes and quantities of paint and materials required for each job.
• Coordinate with team members and site supervisors to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Tool & Site Maintenance
• Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure safe and effective use.
• Keep job sites tidy and organised, disposing of materials and waste in accordance with safety standards.
• Report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to management in a timely manner.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Follow safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure work is performed in compliance with company policies and relevant building regulations.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and act promptly to prevent potential safety hazards on site.
Job Requirements:
• Certificate III or IV in Painting and Decorating, demonstrating formal training and technical skills in the trade.
• Minimum of three years of practical, hands-on experience in painting and decorating across residential and commercial projects.
• Proven experience in a similar painting role, with a strong understanding of surface preparation, paint application, and finishing techniques.
• Current drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle for travel to various job sites.
• Punctuality and reliability are essential; must consistently arrive on time and ready to work.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Relevant trade qualifications or a demonstrated skillset aligned with the responsibilities of the role.
• Motivated, confident, and enthusiastic with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant job site in line with workplace health and safety standards.
• Familiarity with a range of tools, materials, and equipment used in painting, including brush, roller, and spray techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret job plans, measurements, and specifications accurately.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as required.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements, weather conditions, and client expectations.
Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a keen eye for detail, a commitment to craftsmanship, and the ability to uphold high standards of quality and safety on every job site. The ideal applicant will show a strong work ethic, the flexibility to adapt to changing project demands, and a collaborative spirit that contributes positively to a professional, team-oriented environment.
