Overview

Bowraville Central School is situated in the heart of the Bowraville community on the Mid-North Coast of NSW with a proud history dating from 1875. The K-12 campus is strongly embedded within the diverse Nambucca Valley community with a current enrolment of over 200 students, 40% of which identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The school embeds relational practice throughout daily teaching and learning engagements and thrives on the staff's strong connections with the community, including local support agencies, Aboriginal groups, and our families. The school has three established Multi Categorical support classes maintaining a holistic and inclusive approach, supported by a dynamic learning and support team and strong student wellbeing programs. In 2021, the school became a Connected Communities School and has established key roles to support the school to achieve the goals aligned with the Connected Communities Strategy. Connected Communities is a strategy to drive improved educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. The strategy positions schools as community hubs that broaden the influence of the community and school leadership in the delivery of key services that support children and young people from birth through school into further training, study and employment.

Position Information

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, complex behaviour and emotional needs.

- Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum, develop, implement, assess, monitor and evaluate plans to meet the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students.

- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to maintain effective partnerships with students, parents, the community and colleagues to support student learning and engagement.

- Demonstrated classroom management skills that support the learning, behavioural and wellbeing needs of a range of students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
