The role of Senior Design Manager is based in Perth and reports to the Manager - Engineering. This position manages multi-disciplinary design teams to execute design work on a variety of projects and phases, including front-end engineering, detailed design, and supporting project delivery both in Australia and globally.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain relationships with clients with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Manage the scheduling of work, priorities and resource requirements to achieve quality and completion dates for projects.
- Manage and monitor engineering workhours budgets during project design stages and provide input to developing workhour budgets during studies and tenders.
- Monitor and evaluate the work of engineers and drafting staff allocated to your projects to ensure technical competence and performance meet requirements.
- Work with management on resource planning processes to ensure resource requirements for the project design are met.
- Engage and administer technical briefs for sub-consultant engagement.
- Prepare and control the Project Design Management Plan.
- Coordinate design interfaces with the client’s other designers as required.
- Manage engineers/designers to ensure authorisation and issue of documents and drawings to the project team, vendors, sub-consultants, statutory authorities and others as necessary.
- Understand the application of Sedgman standard specifications, typical/standard drawings, and calculations/simulations.
- Ensure compliance of the project design team with Sedgman’s Design Management Systems, including lessons learned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Engineering
- Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Minimum 10+ years’ industry experience with knowledge of organisation projects and practices.
- Experience in leading and managing technical/project teams.
- Minerals Processing industry experience (desirable).
- Experience in heavy industry environment (desirable).
