About the Role

We're looking for a meticulous and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team and play a critical role in managing and overseeing the weekly end-to-end payroll operations for Daikin Australia. In this dynamic position, you'll be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing employee payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with all relevant Australian laws and regulations. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact within a leading global company.

Responsibilities

- End-to-End Payroll Processing: Managing weekly payroll, including calculating wages, taxes, deductions, allowances, and expenses. This involves processing new joiners, employee changes, terminations, and bonus payments.
- Compliance & Reporting: Preparing and submitting payroll tax and statutory reports (PAYG, BAS, Superannuation). Interpret awards and agreements to ensure correct calculations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
- System Management & Improvement: Maintaining and optimising Daikin's payroll system (MicroPay), identifying and implementing innovative solutions for process improvement, and actively contributing to the development and advancement of payroll software applications.
- Reporting & Analysis: Managing superannuation and workers' compensation accounts, delivering timely remuneration and statistical reports, and providing data insights to support internal and regulatory reporting.
- Customer Service: Building strong relationships with internal (HR, Finance, Managers) and external contacts (Service Providers, Auditors, ATO, Workers Comp). You'll provide high-level customer service, manage payroll enquiries with confidentiality, and continuously develop your payroll knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar end-to-end payroll role, ideally within a complex industrial, manufacturing, or blue-collar industry.
- Extensive experience with MicroPay applications and functionality will be desirable.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and award interpretation.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and business reporting tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to manage confidential information with tact and discretion.
