What you’ll do We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Product General Manager to lead the development and expansion of our Credit and Lending business from the ground up. Reporting to the VP Product, Risk & Onboarding, this role will involve building a team dedicated to lending and credit, taking full ownership of the product’s P&L, and driving both embedded lending / lending‑as‑a‑service and first‑party lending products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the financial services industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of launching and managing profitable lending businesses in both the embedded and first party spaces.

Responsibilities

- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for both embedded lending/Lending-as-a-Service and first‑party lending products, aligning with Airwallex’s strategic goals and market opportunities.

- Create and implement business plans to establish and scale the lending and credit product line, including full P&L ownership, setting financial targets, managing budgets, and driving business growth.

- Partner with global commercial teams and key customers to deeply understand critical customer problems and identify the right segments to serve.

- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including banks, NBFCs, financial institutions, credit bureaus, and regulatory bodies to support business growth and scalability.

- Collaborate closely with the credit risk team to develop and implement credit risk policies that align with business goals, and manage risks across the lending portfolio.

- Maintain a detailed understanding of the SME banking and embedded lending sectors, including current market structures, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends.

Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing cross‑functional team focused on lending and credit products, including recruiting and developing top talent.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

- 10+ years of work experience, with significant time in fintech, financial services, or professional services with financial product ownership.

- Proven track record of building, scaling, and managing lending products, with demonstrated P&L ownership and financial acumen.

- Deep expertise in embedded lending solutions and first‑party lending products, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.

- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a history of making data‑driven decisions and driving product innovation.

- Experience sourcing, negotiating, and securing capital and credit facilities to support business growth.

- Proven leadership and team‑building capabilities, with experience in developing and managing high‑performing teams.

- Excellent financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets, forecast performance, and drive profitability.

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Ability to thrive in cross‑cultural and cross‑functional teams.

- Evidence of exemplary academic achievements (e.g. high GPA, Dean’s list, scholarship, etc.).
