Senior Civil Design Engineer

Role description

Due to consistent growth in our team and a steadily improving pipeline of work in our core business of civil highways engineering, we are seeking expressions of interest for future opportunities with Arcadis for a Civil Engineer with 5-12 years of experience to join our Perth-based team to work on road and highway projects. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise and design management skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure designs, planning, and execution meet Main Roads WA standards and project objectives.

Design and Engineering Solutions

- Develop and review road and highway designs, including geometric alignment, pavement, drainage, and earthworks, using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or 12D.

- Ensure compliance with Main Roads WA standards, guidelines, and specifications in all aspects of design and project execution.

Project Delivery

- Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and other team members to deliver integrated solutions for major highway projects.

- Assist in the preparation of project plans, technical specifications, and tender documentation.

Technical Analysis

- Perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis for roadworks, intersections, and other civil infrastructure elements.

- Conduct feasibility studies and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Liaise with Main Roads WA, local authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and approvals are obtained.

- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

- Conduct reviews of designs and documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.

- Uphold strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations during project delivery.

Sustainability and Innovation

- Incorporate sustainable engineering practices into designs to minimize environmental impact and optimize resource efficiency.

Qualification & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

- 5-12 years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on road and highway projects.

- Proven experience working on projects with Main Roads WA or similar transport authorities.

- Proficiency in road design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or 12D.

- Strong knowledge of MRWA standards, guidelines, and engineering practices.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
