Role Overview

The Real Estate Tax team provides specialist advice on fund structuring, transactions, and tax compliance for real estate investments. They support clients with tax efficient entry and exit strategies, due diligence, and ongoing tax obligations, helping navigate complex regulatory and tax frameworks in the property sector.

Responsibilities

- Advise top tier real estate investors on complex tax and structuring matters
- Work on high impact deals across funds, development, and cross-border investments
- Build deep expertise in a dynamic, fast-growing sector of the tax advisory space
- Support establishment and tax efficient structuring of investment vehicles locally and internationally
- Advise on funding options and optimize structures for various real estate funds, including MITs and REITs
- Model and restructure existing investment vehicles to align with business goals
- Develop tax-efficient entry and exit strategies for clients
- Provide expert tax advice across income tax, stamp duty, land tax, GST, and transfer pricing
- Deliver due diligence support for acquisitions, disposals, and mergers
- Review transaction documents to identify and mitigate tax risks
- Guide clients on Australian tax laws, international treaties, and tax policy
- Conduct risk assessments related to transactions and holdings
- Assist with tax compliance, fund distribution reviews, and tax return processes

Skills & Experience

- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, including income tax, GST, stamp duty, and transfer pricing
- Experience with fund structuring, investment vehicles, and real estate transactions
- Ability to analyse complex financial and tax data to develop strategic solutions
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills to explain technical tax issues clearly to clients
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
