YMCA Outside School Hours Care(OSHC) provides fun, stimulating and safe care for primary and secondary school children before and after school. At OSHC, children have the opportunity to participate in cooking, sport, music, art, dance and so much more.

The Y Queensland’s childcare services has been at the heart of Australian communities for more than 40 years, with our first early learning service opening in Brisbane in 1977 after we identified the need for childcare that focused on helping children grow inbody, mind and spirit.

We are currently recruiting for OSHC Educators on a casual basis to join our YMCA Warrigal Road Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Service.

About the service

YMCA Warrigal Road Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is located on Yuggera land in Eight Mile Plains and is part of a multi-cultural and linguistically diverse school community.

We are located in a purpose-built facility inside the school grounds in a building named the “Greenhouse” as well as the school hall, and offer an exciting range of indoor and outdoor activities. Our children and educators love being outside amongst the large trees and outdoor play spaces in the school. We are licensed for 150 children and offer Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care between the hours of 6.30am and 6.00pm.

We provide a healthy and delicious vegetarian menu that reflects our families and makes our children feel at home.

Our service philosophy prioritises community and belonging, children’s agency and the importance of spontaneous, multi-age play in middle childhood. We offer a range of planned and spontaneous play experiences for children and welcome educators with unique skill sets to share with children.

About the role

As an OSHC Educator you are responsible for the care of children before school, after school and during school holiday periods. You’ll assist in running fascinating, fun-filled and educational activities with primary school children, such as science experiments, outdoor games, painting and musical activities.

Our children and Educators bring our inclusive space to life, ensuring our program is engaging with a range of planned and spontaneous play experiences.

Am I a good match?

- You are currently studying or completed a Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor degree in the field of children’s services or similar
- You have a fantastic sense of fun and a tremendous imagination
- You hold or be willing to obtain a current First Aid and CPR certification
- You hold a Positive Notice Blue Card or be willing to obtain one
