Weeds Compliance Officer (12 months maternity replacement) - V25/9816

The Weeds Compliance Officer will work as part of a dedicated team to improve the environmental condition of the City of Blue Mountains by participating in strategic weed control planning and conducting regulatory inspections of private land and land managed by other government agencies to enforce the provisions of the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015. Provide education and advice to land holders on effective and sustainable weed management practices. Assist in the development and implementation of operational programs, including weed control on Council owned land, for the management of priority and environmental weeds in accordance with Council policies and strategies.
The successful candidate will have a TAFE Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management Agriculture, Bush Regeneration or Horticulture discipline, current Chemcert or SmartTrain chemical user accreditation AQF 3 or 4 and a current Class C drivers licence. Knowledge of the identification and control of priority and environmental weeds of the Blue Mountains region. The Weeds Compliance Officer must have experience in the use of and maintenance of herbicide application equipment, competent computing skills, record keeping, sound communication and negotiation skills and a commitment to excellent customer service standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong safety awareness, the ability to plan and manage tasks efficiently, and a proven track record of working collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in digital systems for workload and asset management, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and implement site safety measures, is essential.

You’ll also build lasting capability by developing templates, guidelines, and training to strengthen internal testing practice. You will have:
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, ideally including Asset Management, HR/Payroll, and Finance modules

This position provides café style food, beverage and table service for the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Café, including the preparation of coffee and light meals and assists in the provision of catering for functions and events taking place within the Cultural Centre.
