The opportunity

The Climate and Decarbonisation Analyst will play a pivotal role in advancing our decarbonisation ambitions. You will be responsible for conducting carbon accounting and emissions forecasting in line with NGER and Safeguard Mechanism requirements, preparing performance updates for senior executives and the Board, and supporting AASB S2 climate-related disclosures. This role requires a keen interest in decarbonisation technologies and the use of AI tools to drive our climate and decarbonisation strategy.

Your primary responsibilities:

- Undertake carbon accounting for reporting in accordance with NGER and Safeguard Mechanism requirements, emissions forecasting and future carbon credit obligations.

- Prepare climate and decarbonisation performance updates to senior executives, the Board and Sustainability Committee.

- Provide support in delivering against AASB S2 climate-related disclosure requirements, including the external assurance process.

- Perform industry and peer benchmarking to identify potential disclosure gaps.

- Track and assess legislative developments, modelling potential impacts to the organisation’s operations and strategy.

- Facilitate stakeholder engagements for ongoing climate and decarbonisation strategy reviews.

- Research, assess and compare emerging decarbonisation technologies for suitability and carbon abatement impact.

- Undertake financial evaluation of the viability of decarb initiatives, alongside with technical subject matter experts.

What is required?

- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Engineering and/or Commerce.

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in climate, decarbonisation and/or related fields, preferrable within the mining and consulting industry.

- Experience with carbon accounting, specifically NGER, Safeguard Mechanism and GHG Protocol.

- Strong understanding of decarbonisation technologies and carbon abatement potential.

- Working knowledge of climate modelling and application in assessing impacts of climate change.

- Detail orientated with excellent organisational, data management and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
