Overview

About the role: The Procurement services team is looking for an experienced Purchasing Advisor to provide comprehensive procurement services to the business. This includes strategic sourcing, purchasing and expediting of a broad range of goods and services (predominantly goods) to agreed standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

- Review and verify the adequacy of shopping carts received for the acquisition of goods and services to ensure that they are accurate
- Review Robotic generated purchase orders ensuring information is accurate prior to releasing purchase orders.
- Solicit bids for the acquisition of goods and services as required and prepare recommendations for approval.
- Identify and establish preferred and pre-qualified suppliers.
- Purchase goods and services as required to established standards and specifications, ensuring value for money principles are applied.
- Actively negotiate product savings with suppliers and investigate process improvement opportunities.
- Liaise with manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to resolve matters relating to timely delivery of goods and services.
- Ensure that data entered into the Corporation’s SRM e-procurement and SAP MM Systems is accurate, complete and reliable.
- Provide hands on education and training to customers in the use of SRM e-Procurement and SAP MM.

Key skills and experience

- Considerable Procurement experience in a large multi-disciplined engineering focused commercial organisation.
- Considerable experience and demonstrated capability in supplier/contractor evaluation and product evaluation specifically with goods procurement.
- Relevant experience and demonstrated capability in the use of computer based Procurement systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary Procurement theory and practice, including sound understanding of electronic trading applications and processes.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise effort, effectively lead and influence.
- The ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders and develop strong working relationships within the corporation.
