Objective of The Position:
· To support the fabrication, assembly, and repair of metal structures and components to a high-quality standard.
· To contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our workshop and deliver durable, reliable welding solutions for our clients.
Qualifications/experience:
· Proven experience in welding, metal fabrication, and structural assembly.
· Relevant trade qualification or Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent).
· Knowledge of welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
· Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and PPE compliance.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
Accountable to: Manager /Owner
Performance appraisal: Three months after appointment, then at least annually and/or when required.
Job Descriptions:
· Utilize plasma, gas or electric arc in welding metallic and composite materials together;
· Heat and dissolve metal parts to obtain molten substance used in welding or extrusion;
· Oversee the installation of tank linings, valves, lead pipes, and floor;
· Conduct x-ray, hydrostatic, and tolerance tests on welded parts to verify weld quality and conformance to specification;
· Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions;
· Use power saws, chipping knife and hand shears in cutting, beveling, and contouring metal workpieces;
· Repair structures by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling metal components using cutting torches and hand towels;
· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local and international building codes/legal requirements;
· Monitor work equipment to ensure usage is within optimum temperature to avoid overheating or expansion;
· Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with chemical solutions and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture.
Requirements:
· Previous experience in a similar welding or metal fabrication role
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
· Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team
· Experience in workshop operations and mentoring junior team members
· Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and job specifications
· Experience in materials handling, inventory control, and minimizing material wastage

Remuneration: $75k - $85k + Superannuation
