The Opportunity
As an Asset Management Planner at the City of Perth, under limited direction, the role is responsible for the management of the City’s infrastructure assets. The position ensures that corporate asset systems and data are proactively managed and continuously improved within a structured framework, enabling the City to effectively manage the performance of its infrastructure asset portfolio.
The role plays a pivotal part in the ongoing management and enhancement of the City’s Infrastructure Asset Management Plan, which provides the medium- to long-term asset management outlook aligned with the City’s corporate direction and community requirements.
Reporting to the Lead within the Asset Management team, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading risk-based analysis, condition assessments and lifecycle costing to inform evidence-based investment and renewal decisions;
- Driving continuous improvement of asset data, systems, GIS integration and processes to strengthen decision-making and reporting quality;
- Providing expert advice through analysis of asset performance, consultant reports and service level outcomes, translating data into practical recommendations; and
- Managing specialist consultancy engagements, statutory revaluations, grant funding applications and external reporting to support capital and compliance outcomes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess extensive experience in:
- Asset management practices in a local government (or similar) environment;
- Condition, valuation and risk management approaches for infrastructure asset management, including asset register, unit rate, useful life, condition assessment, revaluation and financial reporting processes;
- Sourcing, applying and process management for State and Federal Government grant funding streams and external reporting (e.g. MRRG and R2R grants); and
- Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to support asset planning, including creation and management of spatial outputs (maps, layers, datasets) to support planning, analysis and reporting.
