Start Strong in a Role That Grows With You

Kingsley College is looking for a Junior Accountant to be based in Rockhampton, QLD. Reporting to the Business Manager and Office Manager, this dual role blends accounting responsibilities with general administration, ideal for someone eager to build foundational experience across multiple business functions in an educational setting.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Managing Xero-based accounting functions, including payroll, budgets, reconciliations and coding
- Liaising with parents, staff and vendors on financial matters, including school fees, purchasing and payments
- Providing administrative support, including record keeping, front office coverage, and internal communications
- Coordinating bus operations, including compliance, route management and liaising with drivers and families
- Preparing reports, submissions and returns required for board or government compliance
- Engaging with a close-knit team to assist across projects, planning, and professional development

As this is a newly created role in a growing college, you’ll have the opportunity to shape systems and make the position your own. Working closely with leadership, you’ll help build processes that support the school’s next phase of growth, while thriving in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same - spanning finance, administration, team support, and community engagement in a highly people-focused school setting.

Please note: this is an on-site position, and while some limited flexibility may be available, the collaborative nature of the role requires physical presence at the College.

Is This You?

To qualify, you will need at least a Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting or Business (or be actively working towards one), along with strong communication skills and a strong sense of initiative.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

- Experience using Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Prior experience in admin or finance roles
- Customer service or public-facing experience
- Cross-cultural competency and the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds - including parents, admin staff, board members and service providers
- Confidence working in a team and across departments

As our ideal candidate, you will be:

- Highly organised with strong time management and attention to detail
- An excellent communicator who can build trust and clarity across diverse stakeholders
- Professional in your conduct and responsive to the needs of a busy, people-oriented environment
- A team player with a strong work ethic and a heart to serve
- Comfortable working in a Christian school environment aligned with our values
- Eager to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to a purpose-led team

What’s in It for You

You will receive an attractive base salary of circa $60,000 – $70,000 (based on your skills and experience) PLUS Super, along with a host of benefits including:

- Up to $10,000 in relocation support
- 4 weeks of Annual Leave per year
- 2 weeks per year Sick Leave/Personal Leave
- Access to Paid Parental Leave
- Study leave for CPA or university exam commitments
- Support for CPA pathway and mentoring from industry-leading professionals
- Part-time options available
- Ongoing professional development through ISQ and internal training
- Entry into a specialised career stream rarely offered in traditional accounting roles - with long-term leadership potential
- Access to mentorship from experienced school business managers

If you're excited about bringing your skills to a role with real impact, variety, and growth potential, we’d love to hear from you.
