Council of the City of Sydney, Australia ROBERT WALTERS AUSTRALIA Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SAP Ariba Business Analyst to join a collaborative team in Sydney on a short-term contract with the potential for extension. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an environment where your expertise will be valued from day one, and you can make a real impact by shaping future business processes. You will play a pivotal part in supporting integration partners and helping the organisation get a head start on their transformation journey.

If you are ready to bring your knowledge of SAP Ariba and business analysis to a project that values your input and offers flexibility, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

- Join a supportive team environment in Sydney, working closely with integration partners to deliver meaningful change from the outset.

- Enjoy the flexibility of a three-month contract with the possibility of extension, allowing you to demonstrate your skills and potentially secure longer-term opportunities.

- Be at the forefront of process design, using your SAP Ariba expertise to help shape the future state of business operations and drive positive outcomes.

What you’ll do:

As a SAP Ariba Business Analyst, you will immerse yourself in understanding both existing workflows and desired outcomes, working hand-in-hand with integration partners to map out efficient new processes. Your ability to facilitate discussions, capture detailed requirements, and translate them into actionable plans will be crucial as you help define how SAP Ariba can best support the organisation’s objectives. You will be instrumental in ensuring that everyone involved is informed, engaged, and empowered to contribute towards building robust business processes. By providing hands‑on support during testing phases and offering practical training to end users, you will help lay the foundation for long‑term success. Your proactive approach will ensure that deadlines are met while fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and shared achievement.

- Collaborate with stakeholders and integration partners to understand current business processes and identify areas for improvement using SAP Ariba.

- Design and document the future state of procurement and supply chain processes, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.

- Provide expert guidance on SAP Ariba functionality, bridging any knowledge gaps within the team and supporting effective solution adoption.

- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements, share insights, and build consensus among diverse teams.

- Work proactively to ensure that all project milestones are met within tight timelines, maintaining clear communication throughout.

- Support testing activities by preparing test cases, validating results, and ensuring solutions meet business needs.

- Assist in developing training materials and delivering user training sessions to promote successful system adoption.

- Monitor progress against project plans, identifying risks or issues early and collaborating on solutions to keep initiatives on track.

What you bring:

To excel as a SAP Ariba Business Analyst in this role, you will bring proven experience navigating complex procurement environments while demonstrating empathy for stakeholder needs. Your background should include hands‑on involvement in process mapping or redesign initiatives where you have worked closely with technical teams as well as end users. The ability to communicate clearly—both when explaining technical concepts or capturing business requirements—is essential. You should feel comfortable leading group discussions or training sessions that foster understanding across different levels of expertise. A keen eye for detail will serve you well when reviewing documentation or supporting testing activities. Most importantly, your willingness to collaborate openly ensures that everyone feels included in achieving shared goals.

- Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst working with SAP Ariba or similar procurement platforms in complex environments.

- Proven ability to design future state business processes that align with strategic objectives and operational needs.

- Strong interpersonal skills with a talent for facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, and building consensus among stakeholders.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting processes, preparing reports, and delivering presentations.

- Experience supporting integration projects involving multiple partners or vendors within tight timeframes.

- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues’ development.

- Attention to detail when preparing test cases or validating system changes during user acceptance testing phases.

- Adaptability to thrive in contract roles where priorities may shift quickly based on project demands.
