Overview

Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management – Tasmania Police, Statewide Services. This is a fixed-term, full-time role based in Hobart, in the South region. Period of appointment: Fixed Term, Full Time for 2 years. Hours per fortnight: 73.5. Salary: $99,482.00 to $104,352.00 per annum. Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 5.

Responsibilities

- Support Tasmania Police investigations by conducting the forensic acquisition, preservation, analysis, and reporting of digital evidence from electronic devices.
- Ensure that all processes are conducted in accordance with legislative requirements, evidentiary standards, and recognised forensic best practices.

Qualifications and Pre-Employment Checks

The Head of the State Service requires that a pre-employment check be satisfied before taking up the appointment. Serious criminal offences may disqualify an applicant. The following categories (and others as relevant) may be considered:

- Arson and fire setting;
- Sexual offences;
- Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property;
- Trafficking of narcotic substances.

Possession of, or progress toward, a certificate or diploma-level qualification in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline, with an interest in pursuing a career in digital forensics or supporting law enforcement operations.
