Wandiyali is a Newcastle-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community Organisation. Our services operate throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Region and Port Stephens.
The aim of Wandiyali and its services is to ‘Keep our Culture Strong’. We do this by focusing our services on children, families, strength, Culture, and community.

Job Description
The Opportunity
As a Wandi Yaaro Caseworker you will engage with a minimum of 35 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their families in each period who are assessed as vulnerable to drug and alcohol misuse and do not have sufficient resources or support networks immediately available to prevent them from further social, economic and emotional decline. Client engagement in the program is for a period of 13 weeks.

Desired Skills and Experience
- A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of our Organisation
- Demonstrated knowledge, and or experience working with AOD and the other factors that contribute to AOD misuse
- Cert 4 in AOD or willingness to work towards
- Demonstrated knowledge and or experience working with Client/families in a case management model
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience developing and maintain relationships with other service providers
- The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other services our community and attend local network events
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a busy team and be self-motivated
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability, including client records, team and Organisational discussions
- Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision processes
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in appropriate record keeping, report writing and working within a data base
- Ability and willingness to implement appropriate and respectful conflict resolution strategies within the community and working environment
