We have 7 community libraries across our local government area, including Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, a temporary library at Marsden Park, and our mobile library service.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Library Technician to join the Community Learning Team on a permanent, full-time basis at Max Webber Library, Blacktown.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Local History Librarian in providing core local history services, capturing and documenting local historical information and resources, and delivering training to staff and public.

It is essential to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, play a key role in promoting library print and digital resources, and enhance customer experience and digital engagement.

Leadership as well as team contribution are important to the success of this role, as well as having suitable experience in a public library setting.

Qualifications and experience

- Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Suitable library experience
- Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated high level of skill in digital literacy
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current class C driver’s licence
- First aid certification
- Ability to speak a community language

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $1,316.09 per week
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
