Principalship for St Peter’s Primary School, Bedford

The Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) invites applications for the Principalship role at St Peter’s Primary School based in Inglewood/Bedford commencing 1 January 2026.

School Profile

St Peter’s Primary School, located in the Inglewood/Bedford area just six kilometres north of the Perth CBD, is a vibrant co-educational institution established by the Dominican Sisters in 1941. With an enrolment of approximately 750 students from Pre-Kindy to Year Six, the school proudly upholds the Dominican motto "Veritas" - Truth.

Our integrated curriculum, centred on Religious Education, incorporates the concepts, knowledge, skills, and values of the Western Australian Curriculum. It fosters critical and creative thinking, personal and social capabilities, and intercultural understanding. We offer specialist programs in Dance/Drama, Music, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Science, and Italian, alongside support and enrichment initiatives such as MiniLit, MacqLit, and AQUINAS.

St Peter’s thrives on a strong partnership with families, cultivating a village-like culture and a robust community spirit. This collaboration enhances teachers’ understanding of student needs, strengthens home-school communication, boosts student morale and confidence, and fosters goodwill between parents and teachers. Our active Parents and Friends (P&F) group further strengthens social ties and supports improvements to resources and facilities.

We maintain a close relationship with St Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church, with the Parish Priest playing a pivotal role in supporting the school community. The Catholic School Advisory Council also contributes significantly, guiding various building and upgrade projects to ensure our facilities remain contemporary and conducive to learning.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the Principal, the community seeks a principal who:

Catholic Identity

- Supports and collaborates with the parish to strengthen the school community’s growth in faith through rituals, practices and symbols that offer meaningful opportunities for students, staff and families to deepen their understanding of the Catholic tradition, while honouring the school’s Dominican charism and TRUE values.
- Demonstrates Christ-centred leadership and a personal commitment to faith by integrating faith, life and culture in a contemporary and meaningful way while embedding Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching across all aspects of school life.

Education

- Leads, engages and inspires staff to build a positive team culture grounded in continuous improvement, research-informed pedagogy, data-driven strategies, and professional growth, ensuring consistent, high-quality educational practices.
- Provides future-focused leadership that honours the school’s Catholic identity and traditions, placing student learning at the centre through a diverse, inclusive, and flexible curriculum, positioning St Peter’s as a school of choice for contemporary, holistic Catholic education.

Community

- Maintains a strong and visible presence across the school, leveraging exceptional interpersonal skills to foster open, respectful and authentic relationships with staff, students, parents, and parish and community stakeholders.
- Leads and sustains a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment that values diversity, fosters equity and supports the growth, engagement and well-being of students, staff, and the wider school community.

Stewardship

- Champions the professional and holistic development of staff through constructive feedback, leadership opportunities, and a culture of growth, recognising that by empowering staff, the holistic development of students and the wider St Peter’s community is also enriched.
- Works collaboratively with school, system, and community members to plan, allocate, and sustain finances and facilities that effectively meet the school’s current and future needs.

Selection Criteria:

- Practising Catholic and experienced educator committed to Catholic Education.
- Accredited for Leadership of a Catholic School Community or equivalent.
- A collaborative and future-focused leader who understands and supports the strategic priorities of the broader Catholic Education system.
- A relevant Master’s degree (or working towards completion) with the ability to apply advanced leadership and management principles to both the day-to-day and long-term leadership of a school is highly desirable.
- Current Teachers Registration for Western Australia (TRBWA).
- Current WA Working with Children Check (WA WWCC).
- Competitive remuneration based on school size and enrolment numbers.
- Additional 2.5% superannuation above guarantee.
- Vehicle available for personal use with co-contribution.
- Additional leave for wellbeing and Catholic Day.
- Access to high quality professional learning and development.
