We have the opportunity to recruit a Specialist Physiotherapist to our Paediatric MSK and Orthopaedic team.
As a member of the team, you will be contributing to the MSK Paediatric Service and may be involved in community Clinics, Outpatients Physiotherapy Clinics on site and MDT Consultant led services. You will be responsible for liaising with other external services including Schools, Community therapy teams and GPs to ensure seamless care for our patients.
As a member of our team, you will have access to well-equipped gym areas and hydrotherapy facilities as well as access to specialists in various paediatric and adult MSK areas. We offer flexible working patterns and actively support the ongoing development of our team members.

This post may be offered as a transitional Band 6 to Band 7 post with the post holder supported to achieve the suitable competencies required for the Band 7 level.
Main duties of the job
To work within the paediatric outpatients department and paediatric orthopaedics outpatient clinics.
To work as part of the larger team and fulfill commitments to our satellite clinics, community locations and inpatient settings within the Paediatric MSK service.
To perform advanced specialist physiotherapeutic assessment and treatment of paediatric patients with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, rheumatological and long term conditions involving complex physical and psychological presentations.
To engage with a range of other professionals within a multidisciplinary care setting including joint clinic working.
To act independently and without supervision as an autonomous practitioner.
To undertake management roles including co-ordinating workloads, delegating duties, appraising and mentoring staff, recruitment and selection and deputising for the team leader in their absence.
To be actively involved in the development of the Paediatric Musculoskeletal team and Physiotherapy service as a whole.
To maintain specialist orthopaedic physiotherapy competency in order to participate in our weekend service.
To lead audit and research projects within the paediatric musculoskeletal speciality.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
- State Registration
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate level education / CPD
- Evidence of specialist courses in treatment of children with musculoskeletal and/or orthopaedic conditions
- Membership professional body, e.g. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or professional network
- Evidence of working to MSc level or Equivalent
Experience
- Significant experience as a band 6 in range of relevant specialities including musculoskeletal conditions
- Experience relevant to treatment of babies, children or young people with musculoskeletal and/or orthopaedic conditions
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and/or MDT
- Experience of contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff
- Competency to participate in out of hours work
- Experience in supervising staff
- Experience in conducting formal presentations
- Experience of working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist
- Involvement in audit or research
- Involvement in quality improvement projects and service development
Knowledge
- Knowledge of orthopaedic and MSK related conditions affecting children
- Excellent knowledge of paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy management
- Knowledge of Ponseti management of clubfeet
- Knowledge of paediatric neuromuscular conditions
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Advanced MSK skills with good clinical reasoning, physical assessment skills to enable effective diagnosis and treatments of Paediatric MSK and Orthopaedic patients
- Committed to personal and team development
- Ability to work independently and manage own caseload
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, members of the MDT, patients and parent/guardians
- Ability to pass on skills / knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
- Administrative and computer skills
- Ability to identify and address areas of weakness
- Evidence of leading in research / audit
- Evidence of presentations beyond physiotherapy colleagues
