Overview

Manager – Water

The opportunity

We’re establishing a new team in Sydney to support both regional and metro clients in NSW. Due to a number of significant project wins, the team is scaling rapidly.

This leadership role presents an exciting opportunity to build and shape a high-performing team within one of Beca’s fastest-growing markets. You’ll have the autonomy to foster an inclusive culture, and set new standards for collaboration and operational excellence, making a significant impact on both people and project outcomes.

This visible leadership opportunity also enables you to develop as a leader renowned for empowering others and driving successful partnerships. With high-profile projects and ongoing market expansion, you’ll be at the forefront of industry innovation while cultivating strong client relationships across major utilities. For those seeking to leave their mark through team building, strategic influence, and collaborative success, this is a truly career-defining role.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager Water Australia – you’ll lead the team through growth with a primary focus on the following key focus areas:

- Onboarding new talent into the Sydney team, ensuring a smooth induction and clear ways of working.
- Retention and wellbeing across a predominantly new team through purposeful leadership, ensuring good distribution of workload through effective resourcing.
- Enable engagement and work-sharing with other Beca sections and business lines to balance workload and grow capability.
- Lead ongoing recruitment to build a balanced, high performing team.

About you

You bring proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in the water or related infrastructure sectors, with a demonstrated track record of building and developing high-performing teams, navigating periods of rapid growth, and delivering complex projects in dynamic environments. You foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that empowers people and drives operational excellence, and you engage effectively with clients while managing stakeholder relationships at all levels.

You champion innovation and continuous improvement, and you’re adept at leading large teams where most team members are new to Beca, bringing structure, stability, and momentum as the team forms. You thrive amid change and help others navigate it constructively, harnessing the strengths of multidisciplinary teams. Success in this role relies on building and maintaining connections across multiple business lines, so you are proactive in collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and cross-team delivery.
