Mount Isa City, Australia Save the Children Australia Full time

54 reasons is searching for a Senior Practitioner for our Men's Behaviour Change programs in the Gulf communities including Normanton, Doomadgee and Mornington Island. We’re looking for someone just like you: a champion of men's services, innovative, creative, and compassionate.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit. Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time permanent role, based in Mount Isa, Normanton or the lower Gulf communities, you’ll report to our Team Leader and will be a key part of our Domestic and Family Violence team.

You will make a difference by:

- Travelling across the Gulf each week (to Doomadgee/Mornington Island/Normanton as needed) to support the facilitation of Men's Behaviour Change programs in a weekly group setting
- Maintaining effective stakeholder relationships by liaising and consulting with local communities, professionals, service providers and referral services to ensure our services are meeting client demands
- Role modelling and facilitating a learning culture by proactively maintaining knowledge of relevant research, programmatic themes and opportunities to enhance team skills and capability
- Identifying, managing and monitoring risks to program/service delivery, quality, staff wellbeing and Child Safeguarding

A place to feel valued:

You have a desire to make a positive local impact through your knowledge and understanding of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. You hold strong connections throughout the community, and have the leadership skills required to mentor practitioners. Your awareness of other services available in the community will help you be flexible in your approach to truly provide healing and wellbeing to the participants and the wider community.

This role requires:

- Demonstrated experience in working with men using violence; families experiencing family and domestic violence; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Degree in a relevant human services field, and/or significant equivalent experience
- Experience in rural and remote community work
- Ability and willingness to travel, as above

A place to belong:

At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

We offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

- Award rate salary (Level 5.1 – $51.00 per hour) plus super and full salary packaging benefits
- Generous financial assistance with relocation, if moving to the region
- Extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you’re able to perform at your optimum
- Supportive Managers – we provide professional supervision training and monthly supervision sessions so you can feel supported and build a career
- Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
- Internal deployment and secondment opportunities, and opportunities to progress within one of Australia’s largest non-profits

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from diverse candidates. Save the Children Australia is a child-safe organisation. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, a Working with Children Check, and sign our Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

Applications close: Monday 13th October 2025.
