Senior Practitioner – Mount Isa Next Generation Strong

54 reasons, in partnership with Ohana for Youth, is excited to launch a holistic alternative learning program that reconnects Mount Isa young people involved in the youth justice system with education, training or employment pathways. We support these young people with a wraparound crew of specialist teachers, teacher aides, youth support and family support staff. We’re looking for innovative, creative, compassionate individuals to join our team.

As a full‑time permanent role, you will play a key mentoring role in establishing the Mount Isa Next Generation Strong program, providing holistic case management to young people aged 10‑16 and their families.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain a caseload of families and caregivers of young people in the youth justice system, including parent coaching to build family capacity.

- Use partnership, outcomes‑based, strengths’ perspective and client‑centred approaches.

- Drive quality program planning and implementation, including mentoring our Youth Specialists.

- Develop and maintain operational stakeholder relationships critical to program success.

- Coordinate staff caseloads and program logistics, monitor and evaluate, manage risk and child protection.

Qualifications & Experience

- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and families, at risk, and young people in the youth justice system.

- Degree or Diploma in a related field, or significant relevant experience.
