Senior Revenue Advisor (AO6) | Exciting State Government opportunity | 6-month contract | Brisbane CBD
The Role & The Organisation
Our client, a State Government organisation, is looking for a Senior Revenue Advisor (AO6) to join their team in Brisbane on a 6-month contract. In this role, you will apply solid judgment, analysis, decision making and technical writing skills on a range of complex interpretation and practice issues relating to taxation, royalty, penalty debt, grants and revenue administration, prepare and issue rulings and provide advice to both internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide written/verbal advice to stakeholders on novel and complex interpretation and practice issues relating to legislation administered by the organisation and related laws;
- Undertake research, prepare papers and make recommendations relating to interpretation and practice issues;
- Prepare public rulings and other practice statements setting out the organisation's interpretation and practice for the legislation administered by the organisation;
- Issue private rulings on select matters under the Duties Act 2001;
- Issue legislated rulings that raise complex issues relating to corporate reconstruction;
- Coach and mentor division staff through review and quality assurance of draft advice, recommendations and decisions;
- Review and quality assure internal and external materials (e.g. approved forms, web content) to ensure compliance with legislative requirements;
- Proactively research and maintain a working knowledge of law and practice relevant to legislation administered by the organisation;
- Analyse and challenge practices and identify strategies which support current and future business directions;
- Actively contribute to team and individual development and build a positive and participative culture that supports division and the organisation's objectives;
- Establish, enhance and manage effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Ensure compliance with established guidelines, procedures and record-keeping standards.

Legal qualifications highly regarded. 2-3 years work experience in either a legal advisory (private sector, government legal, government internal review) or government legislative policy development environment desirable.
