The Trading team leads the development and execution of hedging strategies across electricity, gas, coal, and carbon ensuring market resilience and commercial success. Meanwhile, the Analysis team powers decision-making by delivering deep insights into wholesale market trends, modelling energy scenarios, and supporting planning, trading, pricing, and policy development.
About the Role (12 Month FTC)
As part of EA’s broader Trading and Analysis function, the Pricing Analyst plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely pricing outputs for electricity, gas, and carbon products. You’ll manage and maintain sophisticated pricing models to support both wholesale and retail strategies, ensuring competitive offerings for existing and prospective customers. Are you someone who thrives on data-driven decision-making and wants to contribute directly to EA’s commercial success in dynamic energy markets? Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage and maintain relevant pricing models for producing timely and accurate transfer prices to internal customer groups such as gas, electricity and PPA’s and retail prices to the C&I group
- Ensure pricing models and processes support quick turnaround of accurate outputs
- Liaise with Trading functions and Customer Promise to ensure model inputs are updated and producing accurate pricing outputs
- Contribute to system development projects that impact on pricing needs – e.g. usage data, margin or product information Develop reports and analysis to optimise customer pricing process
- Interpretation of queries into technical analysis and simple presentation of results Position Description
- Back-test core pricing models and recommend changes if accuracy is impacted
- Develop reports and analysis to convert complex technical information into simple responses to ad hoc queries regarding transfer pricing
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting assumptions for business planning
- Create scenario models, analysis, reporting and advice on costs, margins, wholesale shape premiums etc

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant numerate discipline (e.g. Science, Maths, Finance, Economics, IT or Engineering)
- Minimum 1-2 years in a commercial analytical environment
- Significant experience in wholesale energy pricing or wholesale markets – minimum 3 years
- Advanced skills in use of SQL, VBA, MS Excel – Mandatory
- Hands on modelling experience and a track record in using appropriate analytical tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
