YHA Cairns Centra is ideally situated in the bustling centre of Cairns, boasting 209 beds across 59 rooms, all set in a relaxed ambiance with expansive outdoor living areas and verdant tropical flora. It’s an excellent base for venturing into the extraordinary convergence of two World Heritage wonders: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Immerse yourself in the reef’s dazzling marine life through scuba diving or snorkelling, unveiling the breathtaking coral habitats. Meanwhile, Mission Beach provides a perpetual summer atmosphere in a tranquil coastal town, renowned for sightings of the rare cassowary.

About the role

We are on the search for a proactive and passionate hospitality all‑rounder to join our dynamic team. The Guest Services All‑Rounder is the ultimate casual role that allows you to gain exposure to all operational aspects of our amazing properties. This unique position lets you work across Reception, Housekeeping, Guest Activities and Food & Beverage. With development opportunities locally and across Australia, this role is the perfect next step for someone looking to build the foundation of a career in general or property management.

Responsibilities

- Reception – Welcoming guests to the property and ensuring their check‑in process is seamless while ensuring all accounts and documentation are recorded accurately.

- Guest Activities – Create, promote and plan guest activities including social events to keep our guests engaged and entertained.

- Housekeeping – Ensure the property and guest rooms are maintained to the highest standards, manage laundry and any maintenance or safety issues efficiently.

- Food & Beverage – Maintain food hygiene and compliance, prepare and serve food and beverages, including coffee making/barista duties.

- Health & Safety – Ensure adherence to all YHA policies and procedures to keep yourself and others safe.

What are we looking for

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; delight guests with fun and engaging service.

- Ideally, experience in customer service, hospitality or a similar role.

- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

- RSA certification (essential) and a First Aid certificate (desirable).

- Knowledge of the local area and travel/tourism industry (desired).
