As a Lawyer in our Commercial Insurance legal team, you’ll provide expert legal advice across insurance products, distribution, claims and regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to simplify complex legal issues and drive strategic outcomes that protect and advance Suncorp’s interests.

What You’ll Do

- Provide expert legal advice on commercial insurance claims including but not limited to advice on indemnity, policy interpretation, liability, contributory negligence, quantum, settlement, statutory interpretation and claims strategy across a diverse set of portfolios such as Commercial Property (SME), Corporate & Major Loss, Liability, Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines.

- Provide high quality legal advice on insurance products, distribution models, and customer facing materials such as marketing, websites and digital customer portals.

- Draft, review and advise on product disclosure statements, policy wordings, endorsements, and statutory notices.

- Draft, review and advise on contractual documentation including broker, agency, licensing, claims management, and other intermediary agreements.

- Advise on regulatory compliance including ASIC, APRA, financial services legislation, Insurance Contracts Act, and other relevant regulation such as privacy laws.

- Contribute to a high-performing, engaged legal team.

- Partner with stakeholders and deliver business-ready legal solutions that simplify complexity.

What You’ll Bring

- Practising Certificate and admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in any Australian Court

- 4-8 years post admission experience in financial services laws, including the Insurance Contracts Act and Corporations Act

- Experience in a top-tier law firm or large general insurer – highly desirable

- Strong analytical abilities

- Exceptional communication skills

- High ethical standards, agility under pressure, and a collaborative mindset
