Senior Social Worker - Older People Mental Health Team (South) – Cambridgeshire County Council.
Job responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the Older People Mental Health Social Work Teams in Cambridgeshire. We have one Senior Social Worker post available within the Older People Mental Health Team - South. We are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual wanting to develop their career at a senior level and/or into the inspiring area of mental health. Desirable qualifications include Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), Best Interest Assessor (BIA), or Practice Educator (PE); willingness to train up is also acceptable.
This role entails working on complex cases and mentoring junior social work colleagues by providing support, guidance, and advice when required. It may involve covering certain tasks for the manager when appropriate.
We are looking for self-motivated, organised individuals who can seek solutions to problems and uphold strong social work values. The Mental Health Social Work Team is an integral part of the mental health multidisciplinary team and is co-located within the wider CPFT mental health team. Social workers provide legal expertise and a social perspective to ensure a recovery-focused and holistic service to support recovery and wellbeing. Our aim is to recognise people's strengths, enable personal choice, and support them to live fulfilling lives while minimising risks to wellbeing. There is a strong culture of support within the team and colleagues are willing to share knowledge, support and experience.
Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
About you
Cambridgeshire County Council’s approach to social work is proactive, preventative and personalised, focused on holistic and creative solutions to enable individuals to meet their aspirations through the care and support planning process. You will bring this approach to the multidisciplinary team, providing a social perspective on understanding people’s mental health challenges.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who values being part of a supportive team with flexible working and a focus on relationship-based practice.
The essential criteria: recognised social work qualification, current Social Work England registration, and a proven track record that demonstrates knowledge, skills and experience of social work in the field. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel independently.
