Montessori International College is seeking a Montessori qualified, experienced and dedicated Head of Primary, commencing Term 3 2025.

The Head of Primary is responsible for setting the curriculum in line with educational requirements and the Montessori pedagogy. As a leader, the Head of Primary underpins the future success of the College through mentoring and developing staff, ensuring a happy, peaceful learning environment for all students and overseeing the daily running of Junior & Senior Primary classrooms.

The role works closely with the Principal, and collaborates with educators, families, and the wider MIC team to ensure a smooth and responsive environment that supports quality Montessori outcomes for children.

The role includes a 0.4FTE teaching component.

Key Responsibilities

- Articulate and educate others in the benefits and integrity of the Montessori philosophy and promote the College’s strategic intent, values, guiding principles, objectives and policies in a positive and supportive manner;
- Collaborate with staff to develop and deliver the curriculum ensuring internal moderation of standards (includes Montessori National Curriculum, Australian Curriculum and NSSAB program requirements);
- Recruit (assist the Principal), lead, develop and mentor the teaching team including goal setting and coordination, and delivery of professional development;
- Monitor student well-being, development and behaviour, assisting classroom staff to effectively manage student behaviour;
- Review and moderate student work standards across classes and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the offering of the Junior & Senior Primary delivers continued improvement;
- Support teachers with the QCT Provisional to Full Teacher Registration process, including maintenance of registration;
- Responsible for the management and process of NAPLAN (NAPLAN Coordinator), including analysis of data;
- Implement and review the Montessori Registered (formerly Montessori Quality: Authentic Practice) program.
- Current full QCT registration or provisional registration with eligibility for full registration as a teacher in Queensland.
- Montessori 6-12 Diploma and experience working with children in a Montessori environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
