The Master has the overriding authority and responsibility to make all decisions required in any critical situation or emergency, to protect human lives, the environment and the vessel.

Tasks & Duties:

1. The Master is responsible for the seaworthiness and the safe, efficient and economical operation of the vessel, and for the safety of all personnel, vessel/cargo and equipment onboard.

2. The Master shall in a plain and clear manner give his standing and immediate orders.

3. The Master has the overall responsibility for reporting in accordance with laws and regulations.

4. When participating in ordinary navigation watches, to take operational responsibility as described in Chief Officers function description.

Skills and experience:

1. Certification as per STCW II/2 and other relevant items of the Convention and in accordance with Flag State rules and regulations.

2. at least 5 years of relevant work experience

3. good communication skills

4. Leadership skills
