About the Opportunity
We are seeking application from candidates who are highly motivated to commence an Apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic whilst working within local government. By working within a supportive environment, you will gain experience in preventative maintenance and repairs of our plant, fleet and equipment under the supervision of our qualified mechanics, so that we can continue to provide these services. In this role, you will be provided with on‑job training and will attend TAFE as required to successfully complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. You will also provide support to the workshop team by assisting with the maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and the general workshop environment and keeping records of plant, labour and materials used.
About You
- Eligibility to complete Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
- Provisional or Class C Drivers Licence by the commencement of employment.
- Interest and aptitude in landscape construction and commitment to four‑year apprenticeship.
- Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals.
- Hold a WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
Benefits
This is a full time, temporary role (4‑year contract) working a 38‑hour week, with a salary range of $36,800.40 up to $49,280.40 per year + 12% super. Commencing salary is dependent on age and/or previous education. Council also covers the cost of all training fees and gives apprentices access to staff benefits such as a monthly RDO and fitness passport.
