The Role
The Unit Security Officer, in the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Joint Information Capabilities Branch (JICB), is responsible under limited direction for overseeing and supporting the uplift of security processes and practices within JICB.
The Unit Security Officer will apply established security technical, operational and administrative skills based on Defence's legislation, policy, and standards to enhance JICB's overall security procedures.
Unit Security Officer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing security advice to command/management and branch personnel;
- Providing support to command/management in their implementation of security processes and controls in line with the Protective Security Policy Framework and Defence Security Principles Framework;
- Undertaking basic Security Officer administrative tasks; and
- Developing security templates/tools/forms/awareness products and further information to assist the branch.
About our Team
Joint Information Capabilities Branch (JICB) is one of four branches within the Space and Cyber Capabilities Division (SCCD) in Joint Capabilities Group (JCG). JCG was formed in July 2017 with the mandate to deliver joint warfighting capabilities to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
JICB develops and manages a number of capabilities being:
- Joint Cyber & Influence (C&I);
- Joint Simulation Capabilities (JSC);
- Joint Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT);
- Joint Electronic Warfare (EW); and
- Project Management Office (PMO) including Health Knowledge Management.
JICB is a blended workforce of APS, ADF and Contracted personnel who work together with a One Defence mindset to support Defence outcomes with offices located across the Canberra region.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal Candidate is someone who can hit the ground running, being experienced in Security within the Government and Defence. We are seeking a team player who is collaborative in approach to deliver Security outcomes.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and capabilities:
- Demonstrated experience in security, or a closely related area ideally within a government or Defence setting;
- Strong understanding of protective security protocols and security risk management principles;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines;
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to build relationships and liaise with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external;
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation and application of security policies, procedures and legislation; and
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
