The school, in partnership with the school community, focuses on ensuring all students learn in an environment that promotes excellence, celebrates success, nurtures wellbeing and provides for all students ongoing academic needs. We successfully provide students with the skills and values that will prepare them for the challenges and responsibilities of adult citizenship. Working with cultural integrity and providing a school that is culturally safe for our first nations’ students and community members is central to how we see ourselves.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Head of English. - Supporting teaching staff to provide safe and supportive environments where students can thrive both academically and socially.
- Working collectively to guarantee the achievement of whole school improvement priorities
- Leading a whole school responsibility commensurate with the applicant's skills and career development priorities.

Belconnen High School will have a schoolwide literacy focus over the life of the next school improvement plan with a specific focus on writing. Improvement in writing outcomes for students will be enacted through a whole school PLC model where all staff take on collective responsibility for all students' writing achievements. The successful applicant will be both a learner and a leader as they adopt PLC processes to assure student achievement in English against key learning priorities.
