National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ]) is a membership-based environmental charity that offers people the opportunity to connect with significant places, collections, and stories. NTAQ manages a diverse portfolio of heritage properties, including the popular Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast.
As our organisation continues to deliver vibrant guest experiences, we have recently added an enchanted night walk attraction featuring stunning light displays, sculptures, and projections, providing visitors with a magical journey after dark. To support this attraction, we are seeking a highly skilled AV Technician (Technical Operator) to join our team and play a pivotal role in operating and maintaining the night walk attraction.
About The Role
As an experienced AV Technician, you will be crucial during the operational phase of our attraction. Your responsibilities will include managing and maintaining the attraction to ensure smooth operation across all zones, including nights and weekends.
You will handle a variety of AV systems throughout the Sanctuary, assisting with installations, maintenance, and upgrades. Your work will also support events at our venue, The Homestead, such as conferences, gala dinners, and special functions. You will have opportunities to showcase skills in programming, tuning PA systems, and utilizing control systems and automation to create immersive guest experiences.
Quick troubleshooting and resolving technical issues will be essential to minimize disruptions. You will also maintain detailed records of installations, services, and equipment, and help develop maintenance schedules and asset registries to ensure AV systems operate efficiently and effectively.
As a key contact, you will build strong relationships internally and externally, ensuring a safe work environment and contributing to the success of the attraction and memorable guest experiences.
About You
To succeed, you should have proven experience in AV installation and operations, with knowledge of control systems and automation being highly desirable. Key skills include:
- Expertise in lighting and DMX programming, show cue programming
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot various AV systems
- Equipment maintenance and repairs; soldering skills are highly regarded
- Strong troubleshooting abilities for multi-system problems
- Willingness to work nights and weekends to support the night walk and onsite events
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- A valid driver’s license; additional certifications such as rigging tickets or EWP licenses are highly desirable
- Willingness to work outdoors in environments with native wildlife such as birds and reptiles
