About the role

At MacKillop Family Services, our Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs are more than just services—they're lifelines. We offer residential care, home-based care, lead tenant support, and case management for young people with high and complex needs. We also provide a therapeutic environment for those in protective placements, helping them find stability, growth, and hope for the future.

We're on the lookout for passionate and resilient Residential Care Workers to join our dedicated Residential Services team. In this role, you'll do far more than just "work"—you'll create a home and build trust with children and young people referred through the Child Protection system.

Every day, you'll:

- Support young people emotionally and practically as they navigate life's challenges
- Help develop life skills and promote independence
- Create a safe, supportive, and stable home environment
- Work as part of a team that truly cares—and celebrates every win, big or small
- Fulfill essential administrative and household tasks that keep the unit running smoothly

This is an opportunity based in Footscray, VIC within our Out of Home Care program. The position reports to the Residential Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing.
- Demonstrate empathy for young people in our care in an open minded and nonjudgmental manner.
- Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.

You must have a:

- Valid and current Driver's Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
