Established in 2023 by the City of Gold Coast Council, Experience Gold Coast is a proprietary limited company formed through the amalgamation of several Council controlled and funded entities, including Destination Gold Coast, Study Gold Coast, Major Events Gold Coast, HOTA Gold Coast and Placemakers, of which Council is the sole shareholder.
With a vision to make the Gold Coast the Lifestyle Capital of Australia, Experience Gold Coast is leading the city into its next phase of development as a contemporary and vibrant city to visit, study and play. Through a focus on tourism, major events, arts, culture and education whilst fostering strategic and innovative initiatives, Experience Gold Coast delivers experiences that drive long-term growth and community impact. The board plays a pivotal role in visitation growth and economic investment, with strategic planning in place to support a population exceeding over one million residents over the next three years.
The entity is governed by an independent, skills-based board comprising up to 10 directors. This includes seven industry professionals from diverse sectors and two ex-officio directors: the Chief Executive Officer of Council and the Mayor.
Experience Gold Coast operates in accordance with the City of Gold Coast Council Plan, its Strategic and Operational Plan (as endorsed by Council), and a Services and Funding Agreement with Council. Guided by these frameworks, Experience Gold Coast targets key market segments, explores new growth opportunities, and leverages the city's existing strengths to enhance the visitor economy and maximise return on investment.
