Specialist Occupational Therapist- Children's

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Children's Occupational Therapy Service, supporting children and young people with physical disabilities (0-19 years) - the role will be based in the East Riding of Yorkshire and the successful applicant will also cover the Humber geographical area of the service dependent on service need.

This is a key role focused on delivering high-quality, specialist care while also providing clinical supervision and specialist Occupational Therapy advice across multiple settings--including homes, clinics, and schools. Based primarily in the East Riding, the post holder will also contribute to service-wide development, working within the Occupational Therapy team and with Clinical Lead and Principal Occupational Therapist, and the wider leadership team at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.

Band 5 to Band 6 Development post will be considered depending on relevant experience.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver specialist clinical care to children and young people with complex physical needs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of high standards of care and service delivery across the wider service.
- Support and mentor junior staff and students, providing clinical supervision and promoting best practice.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and innovation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and partner agencies to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to care.
- Demonstrate and maintain up-to-date Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy practice working with children
- Evidence of practice educator experience and SLIP training
- Competent IT skills to be able to use corporate systems and Electronic Patient Record systems.
- Evidence of current continuing professional development (CPD)
- Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to provide Practice Placements for students.
- Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area
- Experience of using SystmOne electronic record system

Experience

- Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in the relevant service area
- Understanding of caseload management clinical responsibilities
- Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice
- Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation

Skills and Competencies

- Able to demonstrate effective inter-personal/communication skills and work flexibly within the team/service
- Evidence of good time management skills
- Ability to commute between the various sites
- Ability to manage daily operations and maintain a safe working environment
