Adelaide, Australia Adbri Full time

Lead with Purpose at Adbri

At Adbri, we believe that precision, compliance, and people are at the heart of great payroll operations. We’re a proud Australian company with a strong legacy and a forward‑thinking mindset.

We’re looking for a seasoned Payroll Specialist who’s ready to step into a leadership role. Someone who thrives on solving complex problems, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring our payroll processes run like clockwork.

This isn’t just a processing role. It’s a chance to be a strategic partner, a trusted advisor, and a key contributor to the future of payroll at Adbri.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, as the second‑in‑charge, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining operational continuity and building resilience within the team.

You’ll lead by example, offering guidance on complex payroll matters, supporting system upgrades, and ensuring compliance with ever‑evolving legislation.

You’ll be hands‑on with high‑volume payroll cycles (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly) while also stepping back to see the bigger picture: identifying risks, conducting audits, and shaping smarter, more efficient processes.

Whether it’s preparing end‑of‑month reports, reconciling ledger entries, or supporting the rollout of internal process improvements, your work will directly impact the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of our payroll systems.

You’ll also enjoy the benefits of working in our newly designed, contemporary office on Pirie Street. Conveniently located with excellent public transport access and surrounded by a vibrant selection of cafés and restaurants, perfect for a quick coffee or a relaxed team lunch.

At Adbri, you’ll be part of a team that values your expertise, supports your growth, and empowers you to make a real impact.

What You’ll Bring

- Leadership & Influence: You’re a natural communicator and decision‑maker, able to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams

- Technical Mastery: You are an expert in your way around Chris21 and Excel, and you’re confident in interpreting legislation

- Compliance Expertise: You understand the Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements—and you know how to translate them into practical, compliant processes

- Continuous Improvement Mindset: You’re always looking for ways to do things better, whether it’s automating reports, refining workflows, or enhancing data accuracy

Your Experience

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field

- Extensive experience in payroll operations, ideally in high‑volume environments

- Proven track record in managing audits, resolving complex issues, and leading system enhancements

- Experience in the heavy industry sector is a plus, but not essential
