Are you ready for a career-defining leadership role in one of Tasmania’s most unique and breathtaking regions?

The West Coast of Tasmania is a region of raw beauty, rich history, and resilient communities. A place like no other, home to rugged mountains, rich mining history, and a warm, welcoming community. From the historic town of Queenstown to the scenic beauty of Strahan and the charm of Zeehan and lush rainforests of Rosebery, this region offers a lifestyle that blends adventure, tranquillity, and purpose.

Queenstown is the largest town on the West Coast, nestled in the Queen River Valley and surrounded by the dramatic West Coast Range. Once the world’s richest mining town, its unique ‘moonscape’ terrain—an legacy of early 20th-century copper mining—creates a surreal and captivating backdrop. Today, Queenstown is a hub for tourism and outdoor adventure, offering 4WD tours, mountain biking, and the iconic West Coast Wilderness Railway. The town’s heritage architecture, including the grand Empire Hotel and the restored Paragon Theatre, adds charm and character to this resilient community.

But don’t take our word for it, living and working here is like a working holiday every day. You’ll be part of a close-knit community, making a real difference in the lives of residents across the West Coast.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead and manage nursing and community health services across the entire West Coast region, including West Coast District Hospital (WCDH) and Rosebery Community Health Centre (RCHC).

You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure high standards of care, and manage human, financial, and material resources to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred services.

This is a unique opportunity for a nurse leader who thrives in a diverse, community-focused environment and is ready to embrace the lifestyle and professional rewards of working in regional Tasmania.

Note: Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.

You Will Need

- Clinical Excellence: Strong clinical background with a commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement in rural and remote health environments.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align service delivery with organisational priorities, manage resources effectively, and contribute to long-term planning and innovation in regional healthcare.

- Communication & Collaboration: Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams, engage stakeholders, and foster a positive workplace culture.

- Change Management & Improvement Focus: Experience in leading change, implementing quality assurance mechanisms, and driving improvements in clinical standards and servicedelivery.
