Council of the City of Sydney, Australia M.J. Bale Full time

Job Category: Design & Architecture / Fashion & Textile Design

M.J. Bale is Australia’s foremost gentlemen’s clothier, manufacturing garments of integrity for men of character. We have been built on the pillars of authenticity, integrity, provenance and character and embed this into everything we do from our people through to the products we create, that our customers love.

Job Description

At M.J. Bale, we don’t just make clothes — we craft stories of provenance, authenticity, and character. As Australia’s first fully carbon-neutral fashion brand, we are committed to sustainability, integrity, and delivering premium menswear that blends tradition with innovation.

We’re looking for a driven Product Development Coordinator to join our Design team in Sydney. This is your chance to work alongside some of the best in the industry, shaping garments from concept through to shop floor, ensuring every detail reflects the essence of M.J. Bale.

What you’ll do:

Work hand-in-hand with our Product Development Manager, bringing designs from idea to reality.

Create and update Tech Packs, measure prototypes, attend fits, and translate feedback into exceptional garments.

Manage seasonal fabric development and product trackers, ensuring every season is seamlessly executed.

Liaise daily with fabric mills, makers, and offshore vendors — your organisational skills and communication will be key.

Support design handovers, prepare costing sheets, and maintain category and fabric boards that inspire the wider team.

Immerse yourself in the creative process, from swatches to CAD renderings, seeing your work influence the full collection.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we’re looking for:

At least 2 years’ experience in menswear product development (tailoring or casualwear highly regarded).

Strong technical understanding with hands-on experience working with offshore vendors and vertical setups.

Proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office (AP21 and AI skills a bonus).

Meticulous attention to detail, strong initiative, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

A genuine passion for menswear and the craft of product development.

Why M.J. Bale?

Join a values-led business recognised for its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and quality.

Be part of a fast-paced, creative, and supportive team where your contribution will directly impact our collections.

Enjoy a safe, inclusive, and inspiring workplace where authenticity and character are celebrated.

Staff discounts and opportunities for career growth across Australia’s leading menswear brand.

At M.J. Bale, our values — Provenance, Authenticity, Integrity, and Character — are at the heart of everything we do. If you share these and are excited to contribute to our next chapter, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and help shape the future of Australian menswear.
