As our existing Allied Health team continues to do amazing work, our referral base keeps quickly growing, creating opportunities to expand our Allied Health team. The successful candidate will be given an opportunity to participate in improving other people’s lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred services, working with a range of clientsacross a range of care needs from short-term involvement, to complex, long-term needs. This will involve, but is not limited to:
- Providing a range of assessments and reports, e.g. Sensory Profile, Functional Assessments, Cognitive Functional Assessments, Multi-disciplinary Assessments (FASD, Motor Skills Assessment, Housing and Support Needs Assessments);
- Identifying Occupational Therapy goals with the person and / or their family or carers;
- Developing Occupational Therapy intervention plans;
- Providing Occupational Therapy support in a variety of settings incl. in the home, the community, in schools, the clinic or via telehealth (were appropriate);
- Developing individual resources for the person and identifying useful strategies;
- Providing training for parents, carers and / or support workers;
- Attending Care Team Meetings and providing Occupational Therapy specific input.
Our Occupational Therapists have a variety of assessments tools available, e.g. Child and Adult / Adolescent Sensory Profile, WHODAS 2.0, Vineland-3, CEFI, PEDI-CAT, BOT-2, BRIE-2, HoNOS, LSP-16, DACSA, MSE, Interest Checklist, Role Checklist, etc.
The position is suitable for experienced practitioners as well as recent graduates as we aim to tailor a caseload, supervision and training to our practitioners’ specific needs.
While our office base and primary work is in Darwin, we also offer a range of opportunities to work regionally (e.g. Katherine, Alice Springs) and within remote Indigenous communities eg. Maningrida, Gunbalanya. There is an option to work from home for administration / report writing.
The Northern Territory is an exciting mix of tropical and desert landscapes, with world leading national parks and diverse wildlife. - A degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and registration (or eligibility to register) with AHPRA.
Desirable Experience, Interest and Skills:
- Experience or interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or experiences of trauma who have complex needs;
- Experience or interest in comprehensive assessments of individuals functional needs; sensory assessment and profiling; and holistic lifestyle assessment and associated goal setting;
- Experience or interest in administration and interpretation ofa variety of assessment tools.
Due to the nature of our business, it is required that our staff:
- have a current Driver’s Licence;
- have a current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or the ability to attain these checks.
