Supagas is seeking a skilled and proactive Project Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role plays a crucial part in driving forward engineering and mechanical system design projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting a variety of engineering projects, with a primary focus on the development, upgrade, and commissioning of depots, as well as the design and installation of gas filling equipment.

This role is critical in ensuring project delivery meets technical, operational, and safety standards. Working closely with Supagas’ technical and operations teams, as well as external contractors, the Project Engineer will play a key role in ensuring efficient project execution across multiple sites.

Your technical leadership and coordination will contribute to enhanced process improvement and safety, all while maintaining adherence to Australian Standards and Major Hazard Facility (MHF) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans including scope, timeline, and budget.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation including P&IDs, general arrangement (GA) drawings, site layouts, and other design documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct mechanical design and layout development in line with project specifications.
• Apply thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials engineering to mechanical calculations.
• Evaluate and determine mechanical and process requirements for gas system design.
• Develop specifications and select equipment such as compressor, pumps, pressure safety valves, pipeline and fittings.
• Conduct design analysis, simulations, and risk assessments to ensure system compliance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Support testing plans, documentation, and verification activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address quality or safety issues.
• Serve as the key point of contact for internal teams, external contractors, HSEQ, and other stakeholders.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for assigned projects.
• Perform troubleshooting and commissioning of systems in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Lead root cause analysis in the event of mechanical failures and suggest improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and implement innovative engineering practices.

Qualifications & Experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (mandatory).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical or project engineering roles preferably within the gas industry.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and industrial safety protocols.

Key Skills Required:
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, LPG and industrial gas properties, vessel installations, and P&IDs.
• Hands-on experience with gas plant systems.
• Ability to lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management
• Proficiency in risk assessment and technical reporting
