Overview

Our team of polyglot engineers build delightful experiences for other software engineers in Westpac. You will work on the features of our platform that support and enable them to easily build, deploy and run future ready applications with ease. This includes developing and enhancing CICD pipelines, adding new capabilities to the platform, and development work on our flagship Mesh Connect Marketplace and command line tools. As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to help shape the technical direction of the products, as well as mentor more junior developers in the team.

Responsibilities

- First and foremost, build great solutions.
- Improve build processes, tooling & libraries to delight a large community of developers.
- Foster excellent team dynamics to keep the team encouraged and motivated.
- Facilitate communication within and across teams and ensure stakeholders are kept updated.
- Identify and facilitate the removal of impediments.
- Working closely with others to build a vibrant technical community.

Skills

Must have

- A polyglot programmer with at least 5-10 years of experience.
- Expert Python knowledge and experience, with Java and Node.js also desirable.
- Strong SOA, microservices, and containerisation (Kubernetes / Docker / OpenShift) experience.
- Experience in automation of development processes.
- A strong understanding and experience with public cloud, ideally Azure and/or AWS.
- Experience integrating corporate systems to SaaS based platforms such as Confluent Kafka, MongoDB, etc is preferred.
- Experience with agile methodology and practices.
- Ideally, you'll be part of the wider technical community through things like MeetUps, having a side-project or as an open-source contributor.
