Senior Project Manager

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide leadership and oversee the planning phase of all new public schools within Queensland.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of educational infrastructure development, facilitating the engagement of consultants to complete core deliverables. The successful candidate will lead both internal and external discussions, oversee project implementation, and serve as the central point of contact for the project. This role requires an experienced project manager ready to transition into the role or an experienced senior project manager to oversee a new school/s project within the planning phase of the project life cycle.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education in Queensland. You will lead the planning phase for new public schools, coordinating teams of external consultants, managing financial reporting, liaising with stakeholders, providing expert advice, fostering collaboration, maintaining project programs, preparing reports, and undertaking risk assessments. Your leadership skills will be crucial in driving these projects forward.

- Develop Preliminary Evaluations, Detailed Business Cases, and Ministerial Infrastructure Designations for New Schools Planning unit with minimal supervision
- Coordinate teams of external consultants for efficient development of the work
- Assist with procurement activities for the engagement of external consultants
- Manage monthly financial reporting and forecast expenditure of the project
- Liaise as necessary with internal and external stakeholder groups and agencies
- Provide project specific advice to management and the executive, and liaise with other units as required
- Work collaboratively with other staff members and external consultants
- Build and maintain high levels of communication and collaborative partnerships with internal units and external agencies to facilitate achievement of project objectives
- Develop and maintain project programs and risk registers to a high standard
- Prepare and present monthly reporting on internal and external governance reporting boards and working groups

The ideal candidate for this Senior Project Manager role brings proven experience in managing infrastructure projects. Your background may include government projects which would be considered favourable. Your ability to lead a project team, coordinate various aspects of a large-scale project, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders will be key to your success in this role. You have experience in developing detailed business cases, preliminary evaluations, and ministerial infrastructure designations. Your financial acumen allows you to manage financial reporting and forecast expenditure effectively. Above all, your collaborative nature enables you to work well with other staff members and external consultants.
