Position Information
Cumberland High School is a comprehensive high school, with a population of approximately 1200 students, located in Carlingford. The school has a diverse cultural population including 73.9% non-English speaking background and 57 different languages. The school is driven by the core values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence, and promotes excellence in learning and collaborative leadership with a strong emphasis on student leadership, academic, cultural, music and sporting excellence. Cumberland High School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school that provides strong whole-school wellbeing initiatives for all students including students from a non-English speaking background, high potential learners, students with additional learning needs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
- demonstrated expertise in leading, implementing and evaluating impactful whole-school wellbeing programs that target student wellbeing through their educational journey.
- demonstrated capacity to build an effective wellbeing team with expertise to professionally develop staff across the school in promoting student wellbeing.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for strengthening links with external agencies as well as parents and the school community to meet the needs of students with complex learning and behavioural needs.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as a dynamic and proactive member of the school executive team to support the school's strategic vision and whole-school priorities.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
